How does Au-fair.com ensure my security as Au pair in Germany?

Answer

For us YOUR Security is a Top-Priority. With no compromise. Most team members have personal au pair-experience and we are on your side!

Before we start explaining the security features of Au-fair.com we would like to emphasize that there never occured an extreme violation of au pair rights in a placement that we arranged. Families who like to have someone to exploit rather go elsewhere - there are many opportunities for them on the internet...

We always help if we are approached by au pairs or host families in case of problems. Such situations always occured in placements that were arranged privately with au pairs that have been found by the host families alone, mostly via one of the many au pair websites. The reason for this is, that there is a potential for abuse of au pairs and this can be critical if an agency is contacted at a very late stage of the conflict - if at all.

We ensure your security as Au pair in Germany in the following way - we are sure that many of these features are very hard to find with other agencies:

  • We call you regularly to ask about your situation.
  • We include punishments in our Terms and Conditions for host families to ensure that we can help you to get out of a miserable situation if it should ever occur.
  • Working hours have to be documented in a written form and signed by host family and au pair, the schedules of the first 4 weeks have to be mailed to our office.
  • On working days we are normally available in office from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time - if you leave us a voice message outside the office hours and the matter is urgent we call you back immediately as the answering machine is constantly checked by our staff.
  • For emergency calls please use these toll-free numbers that work from any landline or mobile phone in Germany: 110 Police, 112 Fire-Brigade & Medical emergencies

These circumstances make our work easier:

  • There exist strong regulations for working placements in Germany, Au pair formally is a working relationship and therefore will protect you.
  • Police is absolutely reliable in Germany (in contrary to your perception of the police in your country, maybe).
